Friendship Peak is a majestic mountain, situated at Pir Panjal range, in Kullu District of Himachal Pradesh. Friendship peak in the Beas Kund area is an ideal non-technical or trekking peak.

Overview of Friendship Peak

• This trek is for those with limited or no mountaineering knowledge.
• The nearest town is Manali.
• Roadhead is Solang Nala which is main town in Solang Valley -18 kms from Manali.
• This mountain is covered with snow.
• The peak is perched at an altitude of 5,289 m above the sea level.
• The best route to access this peak is through Dhundi and Beas Kund.
• The ideal time to climb this peak is from May to June and September to October.
• Kullu Manali Airport and Joginder Nagar Railway Station are the nearest airport and railway station.
• The trip starts from Delhi and ends in Bakarthach.

Route Detail

• Beas Kund is named after Beas Rishi (Sage) and Kund is Hindi word for tiny lake.
• This tiny lake of Beas Kund situated at higher and upper valley of Solang.
• It is accessed through a nice camp site called Bakarthach.
• Solang is amazingly beautiful meadow, 12 Kms from the crowd of Manali.
• It is a popular point of paragliding.
• Peak Type: Rock & Snow & Ice.
• Knowledge Required: Ascenind and Descending in Snow, Walking in a rope, Use of ice axe.

How to get there?

1. By Air
• The nearest airport (IATA code KUU) is at Bhuntar town.
• It is situated on NH21 about 50 km (31 mi) south of Manali and 10 km (6.2 mi) south of Kullu town.
• The airport is also known as Kullu-Manali airport and has more than a kilometre long runway.
• Indian Airlines and some private airlines have regular flights to the airport.
• Chandigarh airport is the nearest large airport.

2. By Road
• Manali can be reached from Delhi by national highway NH 1 up to Chandigarh.
• From there by national highway NH21 that passes through Bilaspur, Sundernagar, Mandi and Kullu towns.
• The road distance from Delhi to Chandigarh is 248 km and from Chandigarh to Manali is 273 km.
• The total distance from Delhi to Manali thus is 521 km (324 mi).

By Rail
• Manali is not easily approachable by rail.
• The nearest broad gauge railheads are at Chandigarh (275 km (171 mi)), Pathankot (325 km (202 mi)) and Kalka (310 km (193 mi)).
• The nearest narrow gauge railhead is at Joginder Nagar (135 kilometres (84 mi)).
