Butterfly Palace – magical world of a zoo in Isle of Anglesey.

Butterfly Palace is a step into the magical world of a zoo in miniature at Pili Palas / Butterfly Palace at Menai Bridge in Isle of Anglesey.

Overview of Butterfly Palace

• One shall enter an environment full of lush vegetation, waterfalls and live butterflies flying around you.
• Pili Palas which is full of butterflies, birds and mini beast center on the Isle of Anglesey.
• Follow brown signs in the palace.
• Encounter with the butterflies and birds and then move on to the reptile house.
• Discover the reality of the snake world.
• Visit the tropical lair of tarantulas, scorpions, giant African snails.
• One can also see a colony of Leaf-cutting ants.
• There is a Wildlife shop that includes gifts, books, pottery, jewelery and homemade Pili Palas chutney.
• There are indoor and outdoor picnic areas in this place.
• Indoor soft play area, outdoor adventure playground and nature trail are also part of this place.
• Meet Charlie, Elvis, Jake and a host of other feathered friends in our birdhouse.
• We have plenty of snakes and lizards of all kinds.
• If someone in your family likes bugs then they’ll have the time of their life in our bug-zone.
• This is also a home to our hissing cockroaches, millipedes, locusts, giant snails and much more.
• Visit the scorpions and fire-bellied toads.
• There is a pets corner where you can meet the rabbits and guinea pigs.
• Take a walk through our farmyard where our pygmy goats Milly and Molly live happily with Bert and Ernie.
• They are our gorgeous Kune Kune pigs.
• Watch all our hens and cockerels.
• The newest additions to Pili Palas’ animal family are John, Paul, George and Ringo – the FABULOUS MEERKATS.

• 13 March to 31 October: 10am–5.30pm.
• 1 Nov to 24 December: 11am–3.30pm.

Daily Activities in Palace

• All Daily activities are included in the entrance price.
• Activities available will be displayed at the entrance.
• They will normally be at weekends, during the school holidays.
• They will vary depending on the weather.
They include:
– Meet the snake – this could be one of our Royal Pythons or Begbie the 6ft Boa.
– Feeding time in Lizard land.
– A jungle safari on our Nature trail with one of our keepers which includes looking at pond life, local butterflies and a bug hunt – collect all sorts of creepy crawlies in own magnified pots.
– Handling sessions in pets corner – cuddle one of our baby rabbits or guinea pigs.

Best time to visit / climate

• There is no good or bad time to visit London.
• The attractions are mostly open all year round.
• July and August are the height of summer.
• These would also be the most expensive months.
• This is the time when London has the biggest crowds mainly because of the school holidays and the ‘good’ weather.
• New Year and Easter are also busy periods and expensive.
• In the winter it is dark by early evening (16.00).
• In the height of summer it is light until 22.00.

How to get there?

1. From Queensferry and Conwy
• Follow A55 over Britannia Bridge on to Anglesey.
• Our brown signs will guide you from there but if not take the second exit after you have crossed the bridge sign posted Amlwch and Benllech.
• Turn right at the top of the slip road.
• Follow the road for 1/2 a mile.
• Then turn left at the roundabout.
• We are 200 yards down on the left.

2. From Holyhead
• Follow A5 towards Bangor as you get near to the Britannia Bridge.
• Take the exit sign posted Menai Bridge.
• Turn left at the top of the slip road.
• Follow the road for 1/2 mile then turn left at the roundabout.
• We are 200 yards down on the left.

3. From Caernarfon
• Follow the signs for A5 Holyhead once you have crossed the Britannia Bridge on to Anglesey.
• Take the exit sign posted Benllech and Amlwch.
• Turn right at the top of the slip road.
• Follow the road for 1/2 mile.
• Then turn left at the roundabout.
• We are 200 yards down on the left.
