Naldhera – A beautiful place in Himachal Pradesh

A mountain resort 22 km away from Shimla, Naldhera is a delightful picture — rich deodar forests hug the hillsides, the air is crisp and fresh and the resorts perfect with their creature comforts, situated 2044 meters above sea level. The town boasts of the highest golf course in the world, an 18 hole course for those desirous of putting the hustle and bustle of urban life firmly out of their minds (also the oldest Golf Course in India). The course is very beautiful with a crown of deodhar trees, and was laid out on the directions of Lord Curzon, then the Viceroy of India. The Golf Course also has a temple right in the middle called the Mahunag temple.
This hill town is ideal for long, lazy walks into the mist-covered magical forests. The adventurous can be assured of their share of hiking, horse riding, and whitewater rafting. Naldehra means the abode of God Nal. Close by is Tattapani, 28 km a hot sulphur spring at ther banks of river Sutlej, where one can bathe and pay offerings at the temple nearby.Rafting facilities are also available at the river.

How to get there (from Delhi):

Rail: The nearest railhead is at Shimla, 23 km from Naldhera. Or one can take a cab from Kalka.
